Lukaku price-tag set by Chelsea for Roma, Napoli or others

Chelsea is reportedly setting a price tag of €40m for striker Romelu Lukaku who is currently unlikely to remain at Roma. Lukaku had joined Roma on loan during the final days of the summer transfer session, with an option of a full transfer at the end of the season for the cost of his release clause. Despite showing impressive performance at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma has reportedly found themselves unable to make this sizeable investment for a player who has crossed age 30.

Chelsea, who which does not want Lukaku back and likewise, the player does not want to return to Stamford Bridge either, is looking to raise €40m from his sale. The club is focused on avoiding a loss from the initial €113m purchase from Inter.
Interest from other Serie A clubs, such as Napoli, has surfaced, with the potential of an exchange deal that would bring Victor Osimhen to Chelsea being discussed. However, other Italian teams are expected to be hesitant at investing in the ageing centre-forward due to the hefty price tag. As per Chelsea's stand, they are unlikely to drop below this £38m price tag.

Chelsea is open to cutting ties with Lukaku during the summer for the value of his exit clause that was negotiated last summer, amounting to £38m. This is part of a private agreement with Lukaku's agents and is open to any club, not specifically AS Roma. This move will mark a significant turn in Lukaku's career as he potentially departs from the capital again.
