Eintracht Frankfurt uses option to buy PSG striker Hugo Ekitiké following loan move
Eintracht Frankfurt has decided to activate their option to acquire striker Hugo Ekitiké, who has been playing on loan from Paris Saint-Germain this season. The move was confirmed by Frankfurt on Friday, despite Ekitiké's relatively slow start in the Bundesliga where he netted his maiden goal in his 12th game for the club last week.
"Despite Ekitiké's initial gradual momentum, we have witnessed his quality in the games he has played until now," Markus Krösche, a board member of Frankfurt, said in a statement. "We wholly believe in his potential and are excited to have him as a part of the Eintracht team beyond the current season."
Frankfurt mentioned that Ekitiké had signed an agreement that would keep him with the club up until 2029. The decision to let the young striker, just 21 years old, leave PSG was in some part due to the French club's acquisition of forward Randal Kolo Muani from Frankfurt the previous year.
Currently holding the sixth position in the Bundesliga, Frankfurt is scheduled to face off against Bayern Munich this Saturday.
