Highlights:Southampton 2-0 Manchester City

Southampton thrashed Manchester City 2-0 to claim one of their cup wins so far. Although City took control early on, the home side appeared to have a chance at halftime, which the Saints took advantage of 25 minutes earlier.

Southampton defender Lyanco picked out Sékou Mara's perfect cross after Stefan Ortega faltered in goal, and the striker scored his first goal for the club. Things went from bad to worse for City goalkeeper Ortega, with Moussa Djenepo finding the German out of his defense five minutes later and cleverly using his effort to extend the hosts' lead by two.
It wasn't until the 78th minute that the Blues almost halved the deficit with their first shot on target, when Julian Alvarez's shot from close range was saved by the goalkeeper.Southampton held out as City tried to throw the kitchen sink at them in the closing minutes, but the hosts still held their ground and shrugged off this season's upset to book their place in the EFL Cup semi-finals.
