Greenwood's Charges Dropped But Not Certain to Return to United Squad

Last Thursday Crown Prosecution Service advised that Greenwood's charges 'no longer have a realistic prospect of conviction' due to the failure of key witnesses to cooperate with the investigation. The Manchester United striker was previously charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive conduct and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He himself has denied the charges.
Even without the potential attacker who has been in United's youth system since he was 7 years old, the Red Devils have had very good results in recent months under manager Erik ten Hag and have won 3 straight cup matches before facing Crystal Palace this weekend.

United's management is still divided on whether Mason Greenwood can return to the team again to continue his career. An internal process has been initiated within United, overseen by chief executive Richard Arnold, to determine the next option for the 21-year-old England player, whose contract with United expires in 2025.
