Bayern Munich Extends Bundesliga Lead with Dominant Win Over Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Friday, featuring two goals from Harry Kane, marking their seventh consecutive league win and extending their lead to nine points at the top of the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians, who will face Celtic in the first leg of their Champions League playoff next week for a spot in the round of 16, had their best chance in the first half when Kane's stoppage time header narrowly missed the target.

Just 25 seconds into the second half, Kane came even closer, hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot. However, he found the net in the 56th minute, converting a penalty for his seventh opening goal of the season.

"I want to take responsibility and open the game up," Kane said after the match. "It's happened a few times this season, which is good. I'm enjoying being out here with the boys."

Dayot Upamecano thought he had scored Bayern's second goal shortly after, but Werder's goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer, made an incredible save to deny his close-range header.

Leroy Sane finally doubled the lead in the 83rd minute, finishing off a cutback from Konrad Laimer to secure the win. Zetterer later thwarted attempts from Kane and Laimer, keeping the scoreline down.

Kane was not to be denied, however, as he netted his second penalty in stoppage time, bringing his tally to 21 league goals.

"It's a big month for us, and we're aware of that," Kane remarked. "It was important to maintain focus and secure the win today to go nine points clear. We have two tough away games next week, and we need to push ourselves to see how far we can go."

Next up for Bayern is a league match against reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen, following their Champions League clash in Glasgow. With 54 points, Bayern sits nine points ahead of second-placed Leverkusen, who are set to play VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.
