BYD Expected to Sponsor Frankfurt and Rename Stadium in €90 Million Deal

October 29 Report – According to an exclusive report by Marc Schmidt, *Bild*'s Frankfurt correspondent, Eintracht Frankfurt is currently negotiating a new sponsorship deal.
Since 2019, Frankfurt's revenue has doubled, rising from €200 million to €400 million. To ensure this momentum continues in the coming years, Axel Hellmann (54), spokesperson for Frankfurt's executive board, is now in talks with some of the world's largest corporations.
Sources reveal that the German Football League (DFL) executive board member traveled to the headquarters of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD to present Frankfurt's vision for the future.
BYD, which stands for "Build Your Dreams," and the club are now reportedly envisioning a highly lucrative partnership.
In September, BYD, along with DFL Vice President Armin Kraaz (60) and Frankfurt’s Head of International Affairs, Sami Hamama (42), visited Shenzhen, a bustling Chinese metropolis with a population of 18 million.
Under the current agreement, Frankfurt is set to receive €38 million in sponsorship over seven years. However, *Bild* can now reveal that BYD may significantly increase its investment, offering more than double that amount—up to €90 million—for the stadium naming rights.
The naming rights contract for Deutsche Bank Park, which has been in place since 2020, is set to expire after seven years. While an extension remains possible, it seems doubtful that Deutsche Bank can match BYD's offer in a bidding war.
Hellmann commented to *Sport Bild* on the trip to China: "In recent years, we have built an exciting global network through our international presence, allowing us to engage with numerous institutions in politics, business, and media across specific markets."
"Our work has always been about exploring growth opportunities for Eintracht Frankfurt. The global recognition our club enjoys today is remarkable. To further the internationalization of the Bundesliga, we must leverage and nurture this influence."
Frankfurt has been conducting football training sessions at a semi-public school in Shenzhen, providing coaches and expertise. The surprising outcome: the school has already produced players for the Chinese U15 national team, further enhancing Frankfurt’s reputation in the region.
BYD has already begun supporting Frankfurt by funding additional football fields outside the school premises. Moreover, the relocation of BYD’s European headquarters to Frankfurt has further motivated the club to pursue this partnership.
