Liverpool Step Up Interest in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo as £60m January Clause Emerges

Liverpool have placed Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo firmly on their shortlist ahead of the January transfer window after the Ghana international’s £60 million release clause, plus £5 million in potential add-ons, became active. The 25-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, registering six goals and three assists in just eleven appearances. Semenyo became the first player in the division to reach five direct goal involvements in 2025-26, underlining his explosive pace, power and improving end product under Andoni Iraola.
Sources close to Bournemouth indicate the clause is non-negotiable in January but will drop to £50 million next summer, giving clubs a limited window to secure the player at a premium. Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, have been monitoring Semenyo extensively and see him as a versatile forward option capable of providing competition and cover across the front line.
Manchester United have also registered strong interest, with scouts regularly present at Bournemouth fixtures. However, Liverpool’s need for immediate wide-attacking reinforcement—particularly with uncertainty surrounding the long-term futures of Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz—has intensified their pursuit.
Bournemouth remain relaxed about the situation, aware that any club meeting the clause will trigger an exit. Talks are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks.
