Barcelona Return to Spotify Camp Nou with Convincing 3-1 Victory Over Alavés

Barcelona marked their second match at the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou with a commanding 3-1 win against Deportivo Alavés on Saturday evening, temporarily reclaiming top spot in La Liga.
The Catalans, under Hansi Flick, extended their unbeaten league run to 14 matches and secured a fourth consecutive victory. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a composed finish after a swift counter-attack, becoming the youngest player in La Liga history to reach double figures for goal contributions before turning 18.
Alavés equalised through Toni Martínez just before half-time, but Barcelona responded decisively after the break. Dani Olmo restored the lead in the 54th minute with a clinical strike from the edge of the box and sealed the result ten minutes later, converting a penalty awarded for handball.
The result lifts Barcelona two points clear at the summit, though Real Madrid can regain first place with victory in their game in hand. Flick’s side have now scored 43 goals in 15 league matches this season, the highest tally at this stage since 2016-17.
Next weekend, Barcelona travel to Mallorca before hosting Leganés ahead of the December international break. Alavés remain 15th.
