Manchester City Prepare £70m January Bid for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo

Manchester City are readying a £70 million offer for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports in Spain.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has endured a difficult 2024-25 campaign, remaining without a goal in 31 consecutive appearances across all competitions — the longest barren run by a Real Madrid forward since records began in 1902. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the continued presence of Vinícius Júnior have restricted Rodrygo to just seven starts in La Liga this season, prompting speculation about his future at the Bernabéu.
Sources close to the situation indicate that Real Madrid would consider offers above €80 million for the versatile attacker, who still has a contract until June 2028. Manchester City, searching for additional wide options following the long-term injury to Rodrygo’s compatriot Savinho and the inconsistent form of Jack Grealish, view the former Santos prodigy as an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola’s system.
Rodrygo previously worked under Guardiola’s close ally Domenec Torrent at Flamengo’s youth setup and has spoken positively about the City manager. Despite his current drought, the Brazilian contributed 62 goals and 49 assists in 236 appearances for Madrid, including 17 goals in the 2023-24 season.
