Barcelona Advance in Copa del Rey with Late Goals Against Guadalajara

Barcelona secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over third-tier CD Guadalajara in the Copa del Rey round of 32 on December 16, 2025, advancing to the next stage of the competition they won last season.
Playing away at the modest Estadio Pedro Escartín, the Catalan giants dominated possession but struggled to break down a resilient Guadalajara side in the first half. Despite creating several chances, Hansi Flick's team went into the break scoreless.
The breakthrough came in the 76th minute when defender Andreas Christensen rose highest to head home from a corner, giving Barcelona the lead. The visitors sealed the win in the 90th minute as Marcus Rashford, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, finished clinically after a swift counter-attack assisted by teenage star Lamine Yamal.
Rashford's goal was his latest contribution since joining Barcelona in July 2025, with the deal including an option for a permanent transfer reportedly around €30-35 million. The England international has quickly adapted to life at Camp Nou, adding goals and assists across competitions.
Barcelona, aiming to retain their title, controlled the match with over 70% possession and multiple shots on target. Guadalajara, from the Primera Federación, put up a brave defensive display but couldn't threaten seriously. The result keeps Barcelona on track in their defense of the Copa del Rey trophy. Their focus now shifts back to La Liga before the round of 16 draw.
