Liverpool's £125m Striker Alexander Isak Sidelined for Months After Surgery on Fractured Fibula

Liverpool have confirmed that record signing Alexander Isak will be out for several months following successful surgery on a fractured fibula sustained during their 2-1 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur on December 20, 2025.
The Swedish international, who joined from Newcastle United in a British-record £125m deal on transfer deadline day in September, scored the opening goal just 11 minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute. However, he was immediately injured in a challenge from Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven and had to be helped off the pitch.
In an official club statement released on December 22, Liverpool announced: "After diagnosis, an operation was completed today on an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture. Isak’s rehabilitation will now continue at the AXA Training Centre, with no timeframe yet placed on his return."
The 26-year-old has endured a challenging start at Anfield, disrupted by a lack of pre-season preparation and a subsequent groin injury that sidelined him for nearly a month. He has managed only three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions since his arrival.
With Mohamed Salah currently away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations and Cody Gakpo also injured, manager Arne Slot faces limited options in attack during the busy festive period. The injury is expected to prompt discussions over potential reinforcements in the January transfer window.
