Manchester United Held to Frustrating 1-1 Draw by Rock-Bottom Wolves

Manchester United concluded 2025 on a disappointing note, drawing 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford in their final Premier League fixture of the year on December 30.Joshua Zirkzee opened the scoring for the hosts in the 27th minute, his shot taking a significant deflection off Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci to wrong-foot goalkeeper José Sá. The goal gave Ruben Amorim's side a lead they appeared poised to build on, with Benjamin Sesko striking the post shortly afterward.
However, Wolves, who arrived with just two points from 18 games and no wins, showed resilience. Just before halftime, in the 45th minute, Krejci made amends by heading home an equaliser from a corner kick after Zirkzee's attempted clearance went awry.
The second half saw United dominate possession but struggle to create clear chances, with goalkeeper Senne Lammens making key saves to deny Krejci and others. Wolves, under manager Rob Edwards, ended an 11-match losing streak, earning their third point of the season and a valuable morale boost despite remaining rooted to the bottom of the table.
The result leaves United in sixth place, missing an opportunity to climb into the top four. Wolves, still 15 points from safety, demonstrated defensive organisation that frustrated the home side throughout.
