Indonesia Eye New Firepower as Naturalization Plans Could Add Three Strikers

The attacking line of the Indonesia national team could soon receive a significant boost as Ciro Alves moves forward in the process of becoming an Indonesian citizen. If the paperwork is completed, head coach John Herdman would gain another attacking option at a time when squad depth is becoming increasingly important.
Alves has built a long career in Indonesian football since arriving in 2019, playing for clubs such as Persikabo 1973 and later enjoying major success with Persib Bandung, where he helped secure two league titles. This season he has continued to perform well with Malut United, contributing goals and consistent attacking play that underline his value.
Another forward who could follow a similar path is David da Silva. The experienced striker remains highly productive, adding goals and assists throughout the current campaign. Should his naturalization also be finalized, Indonesia would gain a proven finisher capable of leading the line in competitive matches.
A third potential addition comes from abroad. Young striker Luke Vickery, currently playing for Macarthur FC, is reported to be eligible to represent Indonesia through family ancestry. Discussions about the possibility of joining the national setup have already taken place, although no final decision has been confirmed.
If all three players eventually become available, Indonesia would benefit from a broader range of attacking choices, combining experience, finishing ability, and youthful energy. Such variety could prove crucial as the national team prepares for a demanding schedule of international competitions in 2026.
