Mundo Deportivo: Newcastle Fans Flock to Secure Barcelona Away Tickets, Over 10,000 Apply to Travel to Camp Nou
March 6 – According to a report from *Mundo Deportivo*, even before the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie has been played, Newcastle United fans have already ignited a scramble for tickets to the away match against Barcelona, planning a mass pilgrimage to the Catalan city.

With nearly two weeks to go until the second leg of the Round of 16 tie, and with the first leg not even played yet, Newcastle fans have already sprung into action. They believe their team has a chance to cause an upset and eliminate Hansi Flick's Barcelona side, making history by reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, and are determined not to miss a single moment of the action.

As expected, St. James' Park will be packed to the rafters for the first leg next Tuesday, with Newcastle hoping the home atmosphere gives them an edge. However, the attention-grabbing story is the away arrangements.

Reports state that after communication with Barcelona, Newcastle were initially allocated 2,215 tickets for the away section. However, after the club released details for the away trip, the number of applications massively exceeded expectations. Sources inside Newcastle say that to date, they have received over 10,000 applications to travel to Barcelona to watch the game, with the application window still open. The match is scheduled for March 18 at 18:15 local time.

Due to demand far outstripping the initial allocation, Newcastle have contacted Barcelona again to inquire about the actual available capacity for the second leg. English media reports suggest Barcelona have indicated they will abide by UEFA regulations, meaning the away allocation could potentially be increased to a maximum of 3,100 tickets.

Newcastle fans have made their intention clear – regardless of the final ticket count, they will travel to Barcelona to support their team. It remains to be confirmed how many tickets will ultimately be sold to away fans, and how those without tickets who still plan to travel will be managed. Typically, when large numbers of away fans travel, local police and security services implement specific security plans to manage both ticketed and non-ticketed supporters.

It's also worth noting that Newcastle are currently in a rather delicate phase, with a virus reportedly spreading through the squad, impacting their preparations.
