Wolves Boss: "Liverpool Deserved the Win Tonight; We'll Fight Until the Final Round Regardless"

Wolves Boss:
March 7 – Wolves manager Rob Edwards attended the post-match press conference following his side's 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.

**On the team's cup exit**
"I think we saw the best of Liverpool tonight – credit to them, they deserved the win, they were the better side. We gave it everything, but we couldn't find a way through, whether it was on the counter, trying to break lines, or finding the defence – it was difficult to trouble them.

Even at 1-0 down, we still had a chance, but the second goal we conceded early on was a killer for us. It was frustrating and what annoyed me most, because in the latter stages of the game, anything can happen. But I thought they were very good tonight, and I can't fault our players; the level they showed tonight was really high.

They have world-class players in every position, but could we have attacked earlier? Crossed earlier? Asked them to defend more? Of course. The players on the pitch are making decisions, they're all trying to do the right thing – sometimes it's wrong, sometimes it's right."

**On changing perceptions**
"The results over the past few weeks have given us confidence. It's changed everyone's view and perception of us, and now we know there are eight games left, eight cup finals. So let's give it everything and try to go as far as we can.

We'll rest for a few days now, then go full throttle against Brentford. I don't think we should be too downbeat because of tonight. We all wanted to progress, but Liverpool were excellent, and we couldn't manage it."

**On harnessing this newfound confidence**
"Our message remains the same – we want to keep improving. We've found a decent way of playing at the moment, one that keeps us relatively solid defensively while creating chances. We're keeping the ball better, we're improving in all areas of the game. It's about consistency, belief, and carrying on the positive momentum from the last few months.

I don't think we need to change much. We'll take some lessons from tonight, but I don't want this result to cloud anyone's view of our season. Focus on the league, focus fully on the next game, and that's what we'll do. We believe we can win our next game, and we know how difficult that is because Brentford have been excellent this season.

It's been a very busy period, the lads have put in a huge shift. They're starting to believe again, they're united, and the atmosphere around the team feels renewed. Losing to a good team shouldn't knock our morale. We have to pick ourselves up and be ready."

**On the break from matches**
"I think we're building some momentum, but given our thin squad, it's not a bad thing at all. Everyone should get a few days' rest, and then we can go full pelt into the next game." Just as I've always maintained, we'll fight right to the end of the eight games. The lads are showing that spirit, and that's all we can do."

**On the significance of the consolation goal**
"They'll keep fighting. We've got eight cup finals ahead of us now. The lads have a few days' rest; they've put in so much effort. They're starting to believe again, the atmosphere around the team is fresh. We must ensure we return at our best for those cup finals."

**On the current momentum:**
"I think we're gathering steam. Given our small squad, it's a complete positive. Everyone needs those few days to rest and reset properly."

**On hopes of survival:**
"We'll go full throttle against Brentford. If we can get a good result, we just want to go as far as possible. Regardless of the outcome, we'll fight until the 38th round is done."
