LFP Official: Paris vs. Lens Postponed, Allowing Paris More Time to Prepare for Liverpool

Officially confirmed, Paris Saint-Germain's crucial Ligue 1 match against Lens, originally scheduled for April 11th, has been officially postponed. This pivotal fixture, crucial for the league title race, will be moved to the end of the season.
According to earlier reports, Paris proactively requested the postponement from the French Professional Football League (LFP). The core objective was to allow the team ample time to prepare for the Champions League quarter-finals, avoiding a congested schedule that could impact player fitness and competitive form. The team is set to play the first leg against Liverpool on April 8th, with the second leg on April 14th, leaving only a few days between the two crucial European matches, creating significant scheduling pressure.
Notably, Lens is a direct title rival for Paris this season, with the two teams currently separated by a very narrow margin. Lens trails Paris by just one point, and Paris also has a game in hand. Earlier this month, Paris had already postponed a match against Nantes to prepare for their Champions League tie against Chelsea. This second postponement request has naturally sparked strong dissatisfaction from Lens, who have publicly voiced their opposition, arguing that it disrupts their preparation rhythm and affects the fairness of the league.
Despite Lens's firm stance, the LFP Executive Committee unanimously approved Paris's postponement request, prioritizing the competitiveness of French teams in European competitions. Concurrently, Strasbourg also submitted a request to the league to suspend their league match against Brest in order to fully focus on their two-legged Europa League tie against Mainz. This request was also successfully approved.
Under the league's final arrangement, both postponed fixtures – Paris vs. Lens and Strasbourg vs. Brest – will be rescheduled for the final week of the season, positioned between the penultimate and final rounds of Ligue 1. This schedule ensures it does not disrupt the overall end-of-season cadence while accommodating the preparation needs of teams involved in European competitions, balancing competitive order with the demands of European football.
