The world’s gaze will shift to the historic Mexico City Stadium on Thursday, 11 June, as Mexico officially kicks off the FIFA World Cup 2026™. This high-octane opening ceremony, scheduled to begin 90 minutes before the opening whistle, promises a vibrant fusion of sound and tradition to celebrate the first-ever 48-team tournament.

The ceremony features an elite roster of global headliners performing tracks from the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Album. The lineup boasts a diverse mix of icons including J Balvin, Alejandro Fernández, and Maná, alongside contemporary stars like Tyla, Danny Ocean, and Belinda. The stage will also honor regional roots with performances by Lila Downs and the legendary Los Ángeles Azules, ensuring a rhythmic bridge between local heritage and global pop culture.

Produced in partnership with Balich Wonder Studio, the event centers on a creative reimagining of the World Cup Trophy through the lens of Mexican craftsmanship. The theme will be brought to life using the intricate art of papel picado, symbolizing joy and unity. This performance marks the first of three distinct opening ceremonies, setting a high bar for the subsequent celebrations hosted in Canada and the United States.
