Vietnam Name 26-Man Squad for 2026 ASEAN Cup

Vietnam have finalized their 26-man squad for the 2026 ASEAN Cup following a training camp in the Republic of Korea, with naturalized trio Nguyễn Xuân Sơn, Nguyễn Tài Lộc, and Đỗ Hoàng Hên among the key names selected.

Xuân Sơn (Rafaelson) played a starring role in Vietnam’s victorious 2024 ASEAN Cup campaign, while Hoàng Hên (Hendrio Araujo) made his national team debut during two matches in March. Tài Lộc (Geovane Magno), meanwhile, recently completed his naturalization process and officially became a Vietnamese citizen.

Center-back Lê Ngọc Bảo has been ruled out after picking up an injury shortly before the tournament. Earlier in the camp, midfielder Ngô Đăng Khoa also withdrew due to an injury sustained while playing for Ho Chi Minh City Police FC during the domestic season.

During their time in the RoK, Vietnam trained at state-of-the-art facilities and played three warm-up matches against progressively stronger opposition: Siheung FC (K League 3), Yongin FC (K League 2), and Gangwon FC (K League 1).

These fixtures gave head coach Kim Sang-sik and his staff a valuable opportunity to assess player form, experiment with tactical options, and further refine the squad ahead of the regional competition.

Following their return home, Vietnam will complete their final preparations before traveling to the northern province of Thái Nguyên on July 17 for an international friendly against Myanmar the next day. That match will serve as the team’s last tune-up before the 2026 ASEAN Championship.

Vietnam will open their ASEAN Cup title defense away to Timor-Leste on July 24, with Kim’s side determined to retain the regional crown.
