RECORD BREAKER: Chelsea Seal Blockbuster £117m Morgan Rogers Deal

Chelsea have shattered the British transfer record by completing the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a staggering £117 million.
The 23-year-old forward has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge keeping him at the club until 2032, with an option for an additional year. Fresh off representing the Three Lions at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Rogers flew directly to London to finalize his medical.
The transfer marks a major coup for newly appointed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, who reportedly played a pivotal role in hijacking the deal ahead of reigning Premier League champions Arsenal. The Gunners had made Rogers their primary summer target, but Alonso's vision ultimately swayed the versatile attacker.
Tactically, Alonso plans to deploy Rogers on the left wing. This positioning allows his former Manchester City academy teammate and close friend, Cole Palmer, to orchestrate the offense from a central playmaker role.
The mega-deal also triggers a massive 20% sell-on clause for Middlesbrough, earning the Championship side a windfall exceeding £20 million. Rogers is expected to join Chelsea’s squad immediately for their pre-season tour.
