Jordan Henderson Departs Brentford, Set to Join Chelsea on Free Transfer

Veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson has left Brentford after the club mutually terminated his contract, paving the way for a free transfer to Chelsea. The 36-year-old England international spent just one season with the Bees following his move from Ajax in July 2025. Henderson made 34 appearances across all competitions, registering one goal and three assists as Brentford secured a strong ninth-place finish in the Premier League.
In a farewell statement, Henderson expressed gratitude: “Coming back to the Premier League was really important to me, and Brentford gave me that chance. I’ll always be thankful for that.” Brentford’s director of football praised his contribution and wished him success.
Henderson is expected to sign a two-year deal with Chelsea, where new manager Xabi Alonso is bolstering the squad with experienced players. The move comes alongside Chelsea’s agreement for 35-year-old striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton. The additions aim to provide leadership and stability to a youthful Blues side.
A former Liverpool captain with Premier League and Champions League titles, Henderson brings vast experience. His arrival marks another strategic step for Chelsea ahead of the new season. Official confirmation from Stamford Bridge is anticipated shortly.
