Honours Even in Gritty Roses Derby as Leeds Hold Out-of-Form Manchester United

Rivals Leeds United and Manchester United fought out a fiercely contested 1-1 draw in a fiery Roses Derby at Elland Road on Sunday, compounding the visitors’ miserable run of form.
The clash lived up to its fierce reputation, but it was Manchester United who struck first in the 35th minute. Midfielder Youri Tielemans carved open the hosts’ defence with a pinpoint low cross, allowing Bryan Mbeumo to calmly slot home from close range to give Michael Carrick’s side a crucial 1-0 advantage.
However, Leeds emerged from the interval rejuvenated and struck back just six minutes into the second half. Following an Anton Stach corner, Tarik Muharemovic rose highest to nod the ball back across the penalty area, where Dominic Calvert-Lewin reactively volleyed home from point-blank range to send the home crowd into raptures.
Tempers flared in stoppage time when Ethan Ampadu’s late tackle triggered a heated confrontation with Andrey Santos, resulting in bookings for both players.
The hard-fought draw means Manchester United are now winless in their last six Premier League outings, leaving them languishing in 13th place, while Daniel Farke's resilient Leeds will feel the more satisfied with a well-earned point.
