Late Drama as 10-Man Real Sociedad Edge Elche 3-2

A 90th-minute winner from Luka Sučić saw ten-man Real Sociedad snatch a thrilling 3-2 victory against Elche at the Martínez Valero on Monday night.

The visitors looked in complete control during the first half. Summer signing Job Ochieng opened his account for Real Sociedad in the 11th minute, slotting home from a Carlos Soler assist. The Basque side doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark when Yangel Herrera capitalized on a defensive blunder forced by Ochieng.

However, the game turned on its head in the 64th minute when Real Sociedad defender Jon Martín was sent off for a deliberate handball. Elche capitalized immediately. Debutant Thomas Lemar pulled one back with a brilliant long-range strike in the 67th minute, before Fernando Niño completed the comeback, converting Tete Morente’s cross to make it 2-2.

Just as Elche looked primed to secure a point, Real Sociedad struck on the counter. Ochieng turned provider once again, feeding Sučić, who fired a dramatic late strike into the bottom corner.

The victory moves Real Sociedad to ninth in La Liga with seven points, while Elche remains deep in trouble with just one point from four matches.
