Ivar Jenner Joins Indonesia U-23 Ahead of SEA Games Despite Senior Team Experience

Ivar Jenner, a midfielder for Jong Utrecht in the Netherlands, has been called up to the Indonesia U-23 squad for the 2025 SEA Games, rather than the senior national team. He is included among the 32 players selected for a training camp in Jakarta scheduled from October 2 to 14, 2025.
Although Jenner has earned 18 caps with the senior national team over the past two years, his age of 21 still makes him eligible for the U-23 team. Indonesia’s under-23 squad is focused on building a competitive lineup for the SEA Games, which is a major sporting event in Southeast Asia.
The decision to include Jenner in the U-23 roster was coordinated between the PSSI Technical Director and coach Indra Sjafri. The placement reflects the team’s strategic needs, ensuring that the players selected align with the coach’s plans for the tournament. Jenner’s inclusion is part of a broader effort to strengthen the squad in preparation for December’s competition.
Efforts will be made to secure Jenner’s release from Jong Utrecht, as the SEA Games fall outside the FIFA international match calendar. Despite the logistical challenges, the Indonesian football authorities are determined to have key players like Jenner available to boost the team’s chances of success at the region’s premier multi-sport event.
