The move follows the sacking of Vitor Pereira earlier this month after a winless start to the Premier League season, with Wolves languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points from 11 games. Edwards, who left his role at Championship side Middlesbrough, joins for a reported £3 million compensation fee.

The 42-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Wolves and served as their caretaker manager in 2016. His coaching career includes stints at Watford, Luton Town—where he secured promotion to the Premier League—and a successful spell at Middlesbrough, where he was guiding the team toward a potential playoff spot. Edwards’ familiarity with Wolves, combined with his development of talents like Max Kilman, makes him a strategic choice for the club’s long-term vision, even amidst their current relegation battle.
