Manchester United 1-1 West Ham United: Late Magassa equaliser denies Ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford

Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by West Ham United on Thursday evening, extending their unbeaten home record in the Premier League but failing to close the gap on the top four.
Diogo Dalot broke the deadlock just before the hour mark with a composed finish after good work down the right flank, giving Erik ten Hag’s side a deserved lead following a dominant second-half start. The Portuguese full-back’s third goal of the season looked set to secure all three points and lift United into the top six.
However, West Ham, revitalised under Julen Lopetegui, refused to lie down. On loan Monaco midfielder Soungoutou Magassa marked his first Premier League start with a crucial 83rd-minute equaliser, powering home a header from a James Ward-Prowse corner to silence Old Trafford.
The result leaves Manchester United on 22 points from 14 matches, still nine points adrift of leaders Arsenal and occupying ninth place. West Ham climb to 12th, now just three points behind their hosts.Ten Hag’s team have now drawn five of their last seven league games, highlighting persistent difficulties in converting dominance into victories despite an improved performance after the interval. West Ham, meanwhile, continue their upward trajectory with a valuable away point.
