Flamengo Renews Contract with Coach Filipe Luís Until 2027

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo has officially announced the contract extension of head coach Filipe Luís until December 2027, securing continuity for one of Brazilian football's most successful recent projects.
The renewal ends months of negotiations that focused primarily on financial terms, including salary adjustments and performance bonuses. Filipe Luís, who assumed the role in October 2024 following Tite's departure, received a significant pay increase, positioning him among the highest-paid coaches in Brazil.
In his first full season in 2025, the 40-year-old former defender led Flamengo to an impressive haul of titles: the Copa Libertadores (defeating Palmeiras 1-0 in the final), Campeonato Brasileiro, Campeonato Carioca, and Supercopa do Brasil, along with additional trophies like the Derby of the Americas and Challenger Cup.
A lifelong Flamengo supporter and former player for the club, Luís has compiled a strong record, with reports indicating around 57 wins in 88 matches and a high win percentage. The club highlighted the mutual desire to continue the ongoing work, emphasizing balanced governance and sustained success.
Executive director José Boto noted that the agreement aligns the coach's aspirations with the club's policies under president Luiz Eduardo Baptista. The extension provides stability as Flamengo prepares for the 2026 season, beginning with preseason in January.
