Persib Bandung Officially Signs Former PSG Defender Layvin Kurzawa for the Remainder of the 2025/2026 Season
Persib Bandung made a splash in the second round of the 2025/2026 BRI Liga 1 transfer window by signing experienced French left-back Layvin Kurzawa. The 33-year-old officially joined on a free transfer and signed a contract until the end of this season.

Kurzawa, who was born in Fréjus on September 4, 1992, became widely known during his time at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for more than a decade. He made more than 150 appearances, won 18 domestic trophies with Les Parisiens, and made 13 appearances for the French national team. After leaving PSG, Kurzawa had a brief spell at Boavista before becoming a free agent in the summer of 2025. The official announcement was made by Persib on Sunday (January 25, 2026), accompanied by a grand presentation in front of supporters. Kurzawa was unveiled wearing the number 3 jersey in a stadium filled with Bobotoh fans after the club's 1-0 league victory.

He also joins fellow recruit Dion Markx to strengthen the Maung Bandung squad, which is currently leading the standings and competing in the AFC Champions League 2. Kurzawa's arrival is one of the most prestigious transfers in the Indonesian League this season, even said to make him the most expensive foreign player. This move marks a new adventure for the left-back outside of Europe, while also demonstrating the appeal of Indonesian competition for top European veterans.

Persib fans are enthusiastic about welcoming the reinforcement of the back line, although there are also mixed views about Kurzawa's career at this level. With his championship experience and technical quality, Kurzawa is expected to help Persib defend the league title and advance further in the Asian competition.
