PSG Signs Barcelona's Rising Star Dro Fernández in €8.2 Million Deal Until 2030
Paris Saint-Germain has officially secured the services of one of Barcelona's most promising young talents, 18-year-old attacking midfielder Pedro "Dro" Fernández. The transfer, confirmed by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, sees the La Masia graduate join PSG on a long-term contract running until June 2030.

Barcelona will receive a fee of €8.2 million—exceeding the player's €6 million release clause—thanks to constructive negotiations between the clubs. The amicable agreement reflects the positive relationship between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Barcelona counterpart Joan Laporta, who opted for a goodwill gesture rather than triggering the low clause outright.

Fernández, who turned 18 in January 2026, made his senior debut for Barcelona in 2025 and featured in a handful of matches (around 148–330 minutes across competitions, with one assist), but limited playing time under Hansi Flick prompted his decision to seek regular football elsewhere. Despite Barcelona's efforts to retain him—including plans for a contract renewal—the youngster chose to pursue a new challenge.

The move marks a strategic youth investment for PSG under Luis Enrique, who personally engaged with Fernández to outline his development path in a more suitable tactical setup. Barcelona fans have expressed mixed reactions, with some lamenting the loss of a potential star while others view the fee as a welcome boost amid financial pressures.

This transfer highlights PSG's continued focus on poaching elite La Masia prospects, following past successes like Xavi Simons. Dro, who will wear the number 27 shirt, arrives in Paris as a highly-rated creative force with Spanish youth international experience and Filipino heritage.
