Vinicius Double Sinks Scotland as Brazil Coast into World Cup Last 16

A masterclass from Vinicius Junior propelled Brazil to a comfortable 3-0 victory over a mistake-ridden Scotland at the Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday, sealing the Seleção’s place in the World Cup round of 16.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side capitalized on Scotland’s defensive frailties early on. Just seven minutes into the match, a disastrous back-pass from defender Scott McKenna allowed Vinicius Junior to intercept, round goalkeeper Angus Gunn, and slot into an empty net.
Scotland’s misery compounded just before the interval. In first-half stoppage time, a miscommunication between Gunn and Nathan Patterson gifted Vinicius his second of the night.
The South American giants maintained total control in the second half. In the 60th minute, Bruno Guimarães overpowered Kenny McLean in midfield before feeding Matheus Cunha, who unleashed a powerful strike into the net to make it 3-0. Brazil then celebrated the return of all-time top scorer Neymar, who made his tournament debut off the bench in the 76th minute.
With this definitive victory, Brazil advances as Group C winners. Meanwhile, Scotland’s defensive collapse leaves their hopes of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams hanging by a thread.
