Al-Ahli Strengthens Attack with €40 Million Signing of Francisco Trincao
Al-Ahli have completed the signing of Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao from Sporting CP in a deal worth €40 million. The 26-year-old has agreed to a four-year contract, ending a successful four-season spell in Lisbon and becoming one of the Saudi Pro League's latest high-profile arrivals.
Trincao joins Al-Ahli after enjoying an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Sporting. During his time at the Portuguese club, he made 208 appearances in all competitions, scoring 47 goals and providing 47 assists while helping the team win two Primeira Liga titles and one Taca de Portugal.
The former Barcelona player produced some of the best football of his career last season. He scored seven league goals, finished as Sporting's leading assist provider with 11 assists, and consistently created opportunities for his teammates. His creativity stood out across the Portuguese top flight, where he generated more chances than any other player.
His impressive club form also earned him a place in Portugal's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Although his international involvement was limited to a single appearance before Portugal were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Spain, his performances throughout the season reinforced his reputation as one of the country's most influential attacking players.
Al-Ahli view Trincao as a major addition to their squad as they continue to strengthen for domestic and continental competition. With his experience in European football and proven ability to create and score goals, the Portuguese international is expected to become a key figure in the club's ambitions over the coming seasons.
