PSG Retain UEFA Super Cup After Edging Villa 2-1

Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Super Cup title on Wednesday night, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over a resilient Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena.
The reigning European champions broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia unleashed a ferocious strike into the top corner. Unfazed by the occasion, Aston Villa fought back and found a historic equalizer just before halftime. Seventeen-year-old debutant Brian Madjo net a stunning volley, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Super Cup history.
PSG's tactical depth ultimately proved decisive in the second half. Introduced as a substitute, Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé unlocked the Villa defense in the 61st minute with a pinpoint through-ball. Désiré Doué latched onto the pass and calmly slotted home the winner, with the goal upheld after a tense VAR review for offside.
Despite late pressure from Unai Emery’s side, PSG controlled 58% of possession to frustrate the English outfit. The defeat marks a bittersweet milestone for Emery, who has now finished as Super Cup runner-up four times. Meanwhile, PSG celebrates another silverware to kickstart their new campaign.
