Brighton Thump Crystal Palace 5-0 in Historic Derby Masterclass

Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton and Hove Albion produced a breathtaking performance to humiliate rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, marking their biggest derby win in 70 years.

The Seagulls blew Palace away with an extraordinary three-goal blitz in the opening ten minutes. The chaos began in the fourth minute when Palace defender Jaydee Canvot inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Just three minutes later, Diego Gómez scored a breathtaking contender for goal of the season, catching the goalkeeper off guard with a stunning 51-yard lob from the halfway line. Yasin Ayari quickly added a third in the tenth minute with a deflected strike to leave the visitors reeling.

Brighton refused to step off the gas after the interval. Emerging Greek forward Charalampos Kostoulas clinical slotted home a fourth from close range in the 49th minute. Substitute Jack Hinshelwood then rounded off the historic dynamic display in the 84th minute, firing in a rebound to seal the emphatic 5-0 victory.

The dominant triumph moves high-flying Brighton up to 16 points from their opening seven Premier League matches, while leaving Palace searching for urgent answers after a defensive nightmare.
