Real Sociedad Demolishes Lillestrom 6-0 in Europa League Masterclass

Real Sociedad kickstarted their UEFA Europa League campaign in spectacular fashion on Thursday night, cruising to a ruthless 6-0 victory over Norwegian hosts Lillestrom. The Spanish side put on a clinical footballing display, leaving the home crowd stunned.

The rout began in the 25th minute when Sergio Gómez broke the deadlock, before quickly adding a second just two minutes later to put the visitors in total control. Croatian midfielder Luka Sučić then extended the lead to 3-0 in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on defensive defensive errors before the halftime whistle.

Lillestrom squandered a golden opportunity to mount a comeback early in the second half when star forward Thomas Lehne Olsen missed a 50th-minute penalty. Real Sociedad punished the hosts severely for the miss, with Orri Óskarsson netting a fourth goal in the 64th minute. Sučić completed his brilliant brace in the 72nd minute, and Arsen Zakharyan put the final exclamation mark on the historic win by scoring the sixth goal ten minutes from time.

The massive away triumph marks Real Sociedad’s first victory in the league phase this season, while Lillestrom is left facing a daunting task to revive their struggling European campaign.
