RMC: Mbappé Feeling Much Better, Could Return for Champions League Second Leg Against Man City Next Week

RMC: Mbappé Feeling Much Better, Could Return for Champions League Second Leg Against Man City Next Week
March 12 – French media outlet RMC Sport has provided an update on the condition of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.

Sidelined for nearly three weeks with a left knee sprain, Mbappé is feeling good and could be available for Tuesday's match against Manchester City, as well as potentially earning a place in the French national team squad for March.

According to RMC's information, the French forward, who has been absent since the loss to Osasuna on February 21st, has felt good in training in recent days. Sources close to the club have expressed surprise at his rapid recovery. The French international has missed Real Madrid's last four matches due to the left knee sprain, including Wednesday's first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Manchester City, which he watched from the stands.

At the Santiago Bernabéu, he was seen celebrating enthusiastically after each of Valverde's goals. The 2018 World Cup winner returned to Spain on Monday after spending the previous week in Paris recovering from his injury, accompanied by Real Madrid staff for observation. Back in Madrid, he resumed some running exercises on Monday under the supervision of the fitness coach who accompanied him to France. The club released photos of the France captain training, even though it had already been announced the previous day that he would miss the crucial match against City.

On Wednesday, Mbappé was observed doing small jumps during training, confirming the positive feelings he has privately shared about the condition of his knee. This progress could make him available for the crucial Champions League Round of 16 second leg away at Manchester City next Tuesday (9:00 PM local time). He could even potentially be included in the French national team squad for their upcoming friendlies. If his positive feelings are confirmed, the World Cup winner could see some playing time during the tour of the United States against Croatia (March 26) and Colombia (March 29).

These feelings still need to be verified by further tests scheduled in Madrid in the coming days. These tests will determine whether he can return to the pitch next week.
